Adjective/Adverbs Rule Example

with one syllable

 

consonant-vowel-consonant

ending in -e

Use the + (adjective + -est + noun)

Use the + (adverb + -est)

 

Double the final consonant and add -est add -st

Science is the hardest subject.

I study the most diligently in my history class.

 

History has the biggest textbook.

with two syllables + -y

with two or more syllables

Change -y to -i and add -est

Use the + most/least + adverb

History is the easiest subject.

He studies sport the least enthusiastically of all the students.
